The Town Office welcomes our newest employee, Chelsea Summers. Chelsea will be replacing Brenda Kerr, who is retiring, at the front desk. Chelsea previously worked at the Hope Town Office. A brief bio of her accomplishments is below. We are very excited to have her and look forward to her being part of the South Thomaston Town Office Team!
Chelsea left private sector for municipal government in 2017 when she was hired as Town Clerk and Tax Collector for the Town of Hope. Her other duties and responsibilities in Hope included Deputy Treasurer, Deputy Registrar of voters, Bureau of Motor Vehicles agent, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife agent, Freedom of Access Officer, Deputy Fire Warden, and Election Warden. During that time, Chelsea completed many municipal training courses through the Maine Municipal Association and the office of the Secretary of State.
Chelsea knew right away that civil service was the right career path for her and enrolled in the Public Administration degree program through the University of Maine. She is now a high honors student finishing her bachelor’s degree with intentions of serving in a town administration/management role. During her time in Hope, Chelsea was nominated by the Hope Board of Selectmen and chosen by the Maine Municipal Clerk’s Association to be awarded Rookie of the Year for 2019 for her exemplary service to the Town of Hope. Chelsea is eager to continue learning her profession and excited to get to know and serve the residents of South Thomaston.
