The Town of South Thomaston has vacancies on the following boards and committees.
Budget Committee, Planning Board 1 two year term, one alternate, Appeals Board 2 three year terms, one alternate, Technology Committee and the Ordinance Review Committee.

Town Office Closing Early June 15th for Town Meeting
The town office will be closing early on Tuesday June 15th so that we can finalize our preparations for Town Meeting. We are usually open until 6:00 pm on Tuesday’s but will be closing at 5:00 pm to do the preparations. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As a reminder, the Annual Town Meeting will be held at the Knox County Regional Airport located in Owls Head. We will be using the Airport Maintenance Bay. There will be a signs at the Airport indicating the location of Town Meeting and additional signs for parking.

June 15th, 2021 The annual town meeting scheduled for June 15th, 2021 at 7:00PM will be at the Airport Hangar / Snow Removal Equipment Building, 5 Airport Rd, Owls Head, Maine. The Registrar will be in session at 6:30PM in the evening of June 15th for the registration of voters and correcting the voting list. A PERSON WHO IS NOT REGISTERED AS A VOTER MAY NOT VOTE IN ANY ELECTION INCLUDING TOWN MEETING. A copy of the Warrant is here 2021 town meeting warrant

June 1, 2021 The Selectboard will hold a Public Information Meeting at 6:00 pm regarding the Island Road Project. The Engineer will be on to review the 75% Complete plan set. In preparation for the June 15 Town Meeting, the Selectboard will be holding a Public Information Session at the Town Office at 6PM on June 3, 2021.

The topics for the meeting are:

• Review of the fiscal year change voted by the Selectboard in December, 2020
• Discussion of the 18 month transitional budget and its impact and implications
• Review of the Selectboard recommendation that the Town approve two tax payment and billing dates – one on October 1, 2021 and one on April 1, 2022
• Review of three articles proposed as a result of the work and recommendations of the Butler School Futures Committee. These articles are included in the Town Meeting Warrant

Article 10. To see if the Town will direct the Selectboard, at the recommendation of the Gilford Butler Futures Committee, to create a Library and Community Center Facility Committee to plan and fundraise for the construction of a new building, consisting of approximately 4,500
square feet, to house a Town owned library and community center.

Article 11. To see if the Town will approve the recommendation of the Gilford Butler Futures Committee that as soon as practical, and on a temporary basis, the Town library relocate to the existing Gilford Butler School building and that a classroom(s) be utilized for community
space for a period up to five years.

Article 12. To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate to fund the preparation for temporary occupancy of the former Gilford Butler School Building by the South Thomaston Library.

COVID vaccine clinics St. George Ambulance will be running COVID vaccine clinics. Moderna this coming week on Monday 5/24 and Thursday 5/27. Below is the link to find an open appointment. If the site is full, keep looking for cancellations and updated dates. We will be adding dates and times as soon as we have confirmation of more vaccines available to our site. Kindergarten Registration Ash Point Community School
Registration is for those children who will be 5 years old on or before October 15, 2021, that reside in South Thomaston or Owls Head. Please register online at rsu13.org, click on Ash Point Community School. You may also call the school at 594-5650 to pick up a registration packet. Please register by June 17th for the 21/22 School year.


The following proposed town ordinance amendments and enactments will be included as articles on the warrant for voter consideration at the 2021 Annual Town Meeting, which is currently scheduled for June 15, 2021.
 Existing ordinances proposed to be amended include: Town of South Thomaston Land Use Ordinance, Town of South Thomaston Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, Town of South Thomaston Road Naming Ordinance, Town of South Thomaston Planning Board Ordinance.
 Ordinances proposed to be enacted include:
Town of South Thomaston Conservation Commission Ordinance and Town of South Thomaston Solar Farm Ordinance.
