The State of Maine will be holding a Primary Election / Special Referendum Election on July 14, 2020


South Thomaston residents who are enrolled in a party (Democratic, Green Independent, or Republican) will be selecting candidates in the following contests:
  • US Senator
  • Representative to Congress – District 1
  • State Senator – District 12
  • Representative to the Legislature – House District 92
  • Register of Probate – Knox County
  • County Commissioner – Knox County
South Thomaston residents who are registered to vote will be deciding the outcome of two bond questions in the Special Referendum Election:
  1.  Internet Infrastructure Bond (click here for more information)
  2.  Transportation Bond (click here for more information)


*Please note, Maine currently has three qualified parties that may participate in Primary Elections: Democratic, Republican, and Green Independent. Even though certain candidates or voters may choose to designate themselves as “Independent”, there is no “Independent” party in Maine and these candidates and voters are designated as Unenrolled. The Primary Candidate Ballot you receive will be for the party in which you are currently enrolled. If you are unsure of your designation, please call the Town Office at 207-596-6584.

If you are a South Thomaston Resident who has not yet registered to vote, you can do so by mail. Please click here to complete and print a fillable PDF Maine Voter Registration Application. New voters who register by mail must provide a copy of certain identity documents with the completed registration form. The mail-in registrant may submit a copy of a Maine Driver’s License or other valid photo ID, a current utility bill, a bank statement, a paycheck stub or other government document that shows the voter’s current name and address.
