GILFORD BUTLER CENTER
Thursday evenings offer a wide variety of activities 4-7pm. The Keag music jammers meet in the learning space. Bring your instrument of choice (we have a piano!) or just come to listen and sing along.
The crafters meet in the maker space to work on their projects or to learn something new. Most recently, we have been exploring 3 dimensional paper crafts including Moravian stars and triskele paper globes, materials provided.
The community room is open for games, puzzles, ping pong….fun for everyone.
And of course the library is open for business as usual. All are welcome!

Wessaweskeag Historical Society Museum
The Historical Society Museum is now open for the season. We welcome friends, neighbors and visitors to visit our museum that includes both the Village School classroom and many artifacts from our local area. Visitors’ hours are Saturdays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm or by appointment. Please contact Beverly St Clair at [email protected] or call at 207-701-7147. If the “OPEN” flag is out someone is in the museum.
Pickle Ball
Come Play Pickle Ball on Thursdays at 1:00 PM at the courts behind the South Thomaston Town Office. All are welcome, including beginners. Extra paddles are available.
Village School
Once the South Thomaston Public Library moved out of the Village School into Gilford Butler, the Wessaweskeag Historical Society signed a lease with the town to use the Village School. The school has been furnished with many original school desks, photos and artifacts. A sign will be put up to designate it as a museum. Thanks to our new space Beverly St. Clair, our curator, has been able to display many more artifacts. If anyone has any historical school items or papers to donate please contact Beverly at 207-701-7147 or [email protected].
With the help of one of our residents we were able to get Lowe’s to donate materials for the outside of the Village School. Volunteers will be needed to complete the dipping of the shingles. The town has sent an email to town residents to find contractors to remove the old shingles and replace with the new ones. If interested, please contact the town office.
FIREFIGHTERS NEEDED
The Fire Department needs new firefighters as we are becoming dangerously low on manpower. For more information, please reach out to Fire Chief David Elwell or anyone on the Fire Department currently. Applications can be obtained at the Town Office, Town website under Fire Department, or stopping in on a Monday night @ 6pm
